Motorsport in India must learn to market itself better...really better
-and what could hold the key? The distance that has grown up between
the fans,the sport and the key players in it is really vast.Efficient
sponsorship and strategic marketing could help to reconnect the two.
Perhaps the Motorsport body in India is too internally focused and
with hardly any help from the media it is at a platform which is no
longer in touch with the fans or the common man, who holds the future
to the sport itself.
Whoz to blame...lack of sponsorship ? Lack of interest among the general public ?The people who administer the sporting body...? or Is it the Media ??
Media could help positioning Motorsport as a mouth watering sport by
creating a spark in the eyes of the people by portarying it as the safest extreme sport out there.
To be honest the print medium is doing more than its bit, but as
everyone knows the country is tuned in a way, where people are more
hooked on to their goood old Idiot box'es rather than gazin through a
Newspaper or a magazine.Its high time the Electronic media puts its
hands up and promote the art of riding and driving to the nuke and
corner of the country.
One thing is for sure and that is.....More needs to be done..Much more !!

same thing with other sports as well. For example basketball. Lack of support keeps good players away.
People lack awareness of the rules of sport, except cricket and..football. This is one of the main reasons there is lack of appreciation to a sport. Thins that dont sell, dont have coverage! :(
